Vertical Farm - Type O is to be included in the Post Oil Cities exhibition in The CUBE, RIBA Gallery in Manchester, UK

Vertical Farm - Type O is to be included in the Post Oil Cities exhibition in The CUBE, RIBA Gallery in Manchester, UK from the 13th to the 23rd of May 2009 and then later in October in Lisbon in association with the Portuguese Architects Association

The exhibition theme, POST OIL CITIES, focuses on imagining how we might transform our cities in a oil scarce reality in to beter living places through architectural and urban actions.
The layout is a condensed view of the theme, as this is the first exhibition presented to the public. A 9 meter long panel will show a timeline bridging and cross-relating the history of oil production in the last century until present time, associating it to key events in world history that affected the way society uses oil and to architectural utopias presented as urban ideals of living.

  1. Thank you for designing the Vertical Farm Type 0. I just started reading about vertical farms, and this is the best design I've found. I really like idea of the mirrors and the harversting crop arm. I have two ideas that might be of some value... maybe the mirrors on both the lip of the building and the inner mirrors on the wall could be curved outward so that the light gets dispersed more throughout the floor, and each higher floor could be set back a little to provide more light for each of the mirrors when the sun is high. Ohh, and also extend the roof greenhouse to the whole building :). Good luck!
